Chasing waterfalls is a highlight of any Kimberley itinerary; as described by David Attenborough, ‘one of the greatest wonders of the world’ the Horizontal Waterfalls is truly a natural phenomenon not to be missed. Timing is everything and our Skippers plan your day around visiting this region to coincide with the changing tide. This is one of the best examples of the power behind the huge Kimberley tide and one of the most unique waterfalls you will see in the world.
Not to be outdone is the spectacular Montgomery reef and its unique cascading waterfalls in the middle of the ocean that disappears on the rising tide. This waterfall experience is best viewed up close and personal in our expedition tenders guided by one of our expert crew members.
From the sublime to the ridiculous are the numerous hidden waterfalls that cascade into crystal clear rock pools. It’s impossible to mention them all but I dare you to dive straight in, leaving your inhibitions behind and soak up the unspoiled surrounds.
The Magnificent King George Twin Falls in full wet season glory is a sight to behold, the thundering flow is best experienced early in the season. One of our favourite waterfalls is the four-tiered Mitchell River falls, you will be spellbound by the magnitude and if you have the opportunity to view these falls from the air you will appreciate the entire plateau landscape.
A truly memorable experience is when the Skipper nudges the bow of the vessel up to the King Cascade Waterfall. You will enjoy an exhilarating shower that will awaken your senses before climbing the cascade to swim in the multitude of palm-fringed rock pools. You will remember this experience for years to come.
